When I moved from NYC to LA I shipped my stuff and took a flight across the country. But this time I decided to save a little money and drive. So I packed my little Honda Fit and headed east!
The first stop was Phoenix, Arizona. Along the way I experienced driving through miles and miles of desert land. I was in awe of the sand storms and mountains shaped like melted snow cones. I also felt like I was in an episode of Breaking Bad minus the meth.
As I stopped at each rest stop I realized how diverse our country is. In the middle of the desert I saw people from various cultures and races who were traveling. Traveling to see loved ones, to college, or like me, to a new place to call home.
I also noticed when people travel they seem more open to conversation. I suppose traveling allows each of us to relax, relate and restore the humanity in all of us.
Next stop - Amarillo, Texas....
